Bob joined NxThera as its president and chief executive officer and a director in 2009 and has more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining NxThera, Bob was president, chief executive officer and a director of Restore Medical from 2005 until the company’s acquisition by Medtronic in July of 2008. Previous to Restore, Bob was the chief financial officer and vice president of global marketing for Endocardial Solutions, which was acquired by St. Jude Medical in 2005.
Previously, Bob was the senior vice president and general manager of the auditory business for Advanced Bionics, and held several senior management positions with Medtronic, including vice president and general manager of the Surgical Navigation Technologies business unit, vice president of Corporate Strategy, and director of Corporate Development. Bob held senior positions in marketing, corporate development, legal and finance at General Mills, and practiced corporate, M&A and securities law with the Minneapolis law firm of Lindquist & Vennum. Bob currently serves as a director of Veran Medical, and has been a director of several privately-held and public medical devices companies.
Bob received a J.D. from the Vanderbilt University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, and a B.A. in accounting, economics & political science from Luther College.

Michael co-founded NxThera in 2008 to develop and commercialize the urology applications of the vapor platform technology that he invented. Michael has been a director and chief technology officer since NxThera’s inception. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Michael taught in several departments and performed research at the University of Minnesota, including the Department of Physiology, the Department of Urologic Surgery in the School of Medicine, the Institute of Technology, and the Carlson School of Management. Professor Hoey also taught in the department of Biological Sciences at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Michael is an expert in the interaction of thermotherapy and tissue and a prolific inventor, with 72 patents granted and 94 patents pending, the majority of which are in the medical device field.
Michael’s inventions include platform technologies, which are the foundation for products being sold, or in development for a variety of cardiac surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, general surgery, urology, gynecology, and vascular surgery applications. Michael has been a consultant to, as well as a founder/principal of, several medical products companies, which combined have raised over $250 million of capital.
Carmen joined NxThera as its chief financial officer and sr. vice president of commercialization in October 2012, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining NxThera, Carmen served as the global chief financial officer of Tornier, N.V., an orthopaedic extremities company, through the period of its initial public offering. From 2006 to 2010, Carmen served as the chief operating and financial officer of Spine Wave, Inc., a venture-backed spinal implants company.
Previously, Carmen was the executive vice president and chief financial officer of American Medical Systems Holdings, Inc., a global leader in urology, and spent 12 years in various financial and operating leadership positions at Medtronic, including her most recent role as vice president and general manager of the Musculoskeletal Tissue Services business for Medtronic Sofamor Danek. Prior to Medtronic, Carmen spent 10 years with Honeywell, Inc. Carmen has served on the boards of directors for two publicly traded companies, SonoSite, Inc. and Memry Corporation, and chaired their nominating/governance and audit committees, respectively.
Carmen earned her B.S. in accounting from the University of North Dakota, an M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and received her CPA in 1983.

Mike joins NxThera with more than 25 years of broad healthcare marketing and sales leadership experience in medical devices, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical research and payer economics. Prior to joining NxThera, Mike was Vice President and General Manager of the Prostate Health business unit of American Medical Systems, which develops and delivers medical device solutions to treat BPH, prostate cancer and stone disease. Mike received his MBA from the OPUS College of Business, University of St. Thomas and a BS in physics and chemistry from the University of South Dakota.

Cindy joined NxThera in 2012. She has 20 years of medical device clinical research experience in cardiology, immunology, pulmonology, and female pelvic health, specializing twelve of those years in early stage first-in-human and pre-market trials for medical device start-ups. During her career, Cindy has specialized in creating and motivating high performing teams through authentic leadership in order to achieve accelerated clinical trial execution.

Kathy joined NxThera as its Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs in September 2017 with over 15 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining NxThera, Kathy was Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Alliqua BioMedical (formerly Celleration) since 2011. Prior to Alliqua, Kathy had her own Quality Systems consulting business and has served in a variety of Quality and Regulatory roles at Beckman Coulter, Medtronic Neurology, Sanofi Diagnostic Pasteur, and Kallestad Diagnostics. Kathy has also held medical technologist positions at The Mayo Clinic and Jewish Hospital of St. Louis.
Kathy received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN and her B.A. in Medical Technology from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI. Kathy has been a member of the Minnesota State Bar since 1998.

Mona has led NxThera’s program management since 2009. She has over 15 years of engineering, operations, process development and program management experience with a variety of medical device companies, including Boston Scientific, American Medical Systems and Medtronic.
